About Us

Our Scottish Background
Thistle Masonry is the brainchild of Keith Truesdale, a dedicated mason with a rich history in the trade. Keith began his bricklaying apprenticeship in June 1997 at just 15, completing it before his 20th birthday. This early start made him one of the youngest certified tradesmen around.
Keith spent 19 years in Scotland, working on prestigious projects and iconic buildings alongside top bricklayers and stonemasons. His experience includes honing traditional techniques on award-winning sites.
In 2016, Keith relocated to Tauranga, New Zealand. After working with local firms and adapting to New Zealand’s construction practices, he decided to establish his own business. Today, Thistle Masonry reflects Keith’s commitment to quality and his deep-rooted expertise, now proudly serving the Tauranga community he calls home.

What Sets Us Apart
Thistle Masonry sets itself apart with a blend of craftsmanship and precision. Keith Truesdales dedication to perfection and pride in his work are evident in every project.
The attention to detail and artistic touch refined over years of mastering methods in Scotland bring a special quality to our masonry projects that is unique to New Zealand.
Our expertise extends beyond masonry work. We specialise in designing custom outdoor features like wood fired ovens, fire pits and fireplaces.
Whether you require assistance with the design process or prefer us to bring your vision to life we aim to create these features as gathering spots. Each piece is crafted not only for functionality but also to elevate your outdoor enjoyment and leave a lasting impression.
If you can visualise it, Thistle Masonry can create it.
